In line with the achievements of our hospital, the achievements of Diagnostic Pathology Center are also among the best among university hospitals in Japan, and the distinctive feature of Diagnostic Pathology Center is that it diagnoses a wide range of cases for each organ. It is staffed by 12 pathologists and 17 clinical laboratory technicians.

Overview
Diagnostic Pathology Center diagnoses all tissues and cells removed from patients.We provide histopathological diagnosis of tissues removed by biopsy or surgery, rapid diagnosis of frozen tissue samples taken during surgery for quick diagnosis, cytodiagnosis of cells or liquid samples obtained by puncture etc. (including rapid cytodiagnosis during surgery), and autopsy diagnosis.
In 2024, we performed 17,885 histopathological diagnoses, 683 rapid histopathological diagnoses, 12,542 cytopathological diagnoses, 115 rapid cytopathological diagnoses, and 22 pathological autopsies. We actively use immunohistochemistry, in situ hybridization, and electron microscopy for diagnosis (immunohistochemistry 10,403, in situ hybridization 2,352, electron microscopy 130). We also provide outpatient pathology services (Monday afternoons).
